Sasso Meat Chickens

Free Range Table Birds
At Little Morton Farm we have Sasso Meat birds. These combine hardiness and ease of rearing with fine flavour.
The Sasso is native to France and has become increasingly popular with both small and large raisers. Resembling our native chickens they have a strong disease resistance and produce delicious, tender meat. These birds are suited to free range, are affordable and easy to maintain. They happily graze around a field or backyard eating grass, corn, leaves and other natural ingredients.
We currently have chicks at day old on a monthly basis for sale. These chicks will mature over a 84 day period resulting in 2.2kg (4lb) chicken. You can come visit the farm to see our Free Range Table Bird house and chickens and we can offer you advice on rearing these birds!
The Table Bird House
Little Morton Farm and Forsham Cottage Arks have joined forces to develop the table chicken house. We have currently got one in our orchard and would be delighted to show you it. It houses both our chickens and ducks which take full advantage of the space! They free range out of it during the day and throughout the night are locked up safely away from Mr Fox!

The Table Chickens
We can supply you with meat birds which will mature in 80days. They are available at day old so you really can follow through with the process of rearing your own chickens. The birds are a white bird called a Sasso. These are a friendly bird which makes handling them easy. We recommend you provide your chicks with a heat lamp for at least the first 3 weeks depending on the time of year and also the exposure to the elements!
Should you wish to start with the meat birds and have any questions we are happy to help. We have all the equipment you need including the feed.
