Little Morton Farm is the main agent and full stockist of Forsham Cottage Arks.
Forsham Cottage Arks are renowned for their quality, design and craftsmanship. Their outstanding attention to detail on all their products is of the highest quality. All units incorporate practicality for both us as humans and also our animal occupants. Designs include removable floors/perches to make for easy cleaning and innovative wheels for mobility.
All units (with the exception of the dovecotes) are flat pack to allow for manoeuvrability especially when there is limited access or you are moving house. Little Morton Farm are happy to assemble and deliver to you but if you prefer a challenge (the instructions provided are easy to follow!) then we offer a collection price.
Please feel free to make an appointment to see the arks here at Little Morton Farm before you buy we have many on display.
The Romney Range:
This range of arks is an evolutionary development of our Forsham 600 series (see below). The range falls between two stools...
They are the same basic unit as the Forshams but incorporating the Penthurst's covered run end for bird and feed protection. The door in the run helps when catching, making a more user and hen friendly ark.
The units all have access to the front and side of the run area plus a door to the rear of the house. Removeable perching also enables easier cleaning or the arks. Please click to enlarge.
The Lenham Range:
This range of housing has been designed to ease many of the more tedious tasks that accompany fowl keeping, such as cleaning. It also incorporates features that have evolved through many years of bird keeping where you learn shortcomings of ill concieved poultry housing the hard way.
The Lenham range have removeable nest boxes and side walls, removeable perching, full length ridge ventilation and carrying handles. The internal arrangements are made to keep cleaning as easy as possible.
The external access nest box bank and the wall opposite lift away from the house and so, in a few moments the house is open right through for maximum access. The removeable perching has been arranged in two banks either side of the central pop hole door and are angled to rise away from the door. This encourages the early roosting birds to occupy the highest perches and, therefore, the furthest from the door so avoiding congestion - even the birds at the bottom of the pecking order get a perch.
The central corridor has another advantage in being the only part of the ark floor the birds can walk on before mounting a perch, therefore taking the brunt of any soiling. Becuase it can be removed, the normally tedious task of scraping dried compact soiling becomes easier - many leave this part of the ark to soak while they attend to the rest of the cleaning.
The Lenham ark also has an optional Rye Run attachment available.
The Bedgebury Range:
A range of night arks for use by either hens, ducks or bantams. For ease of cleaning and pest control all in the Bedgebury range have removeable perching. The nest boxes have their own rear door. The 802 also has side door access. All have stout carrying handles.
The Forsham Range:
A comprehensive range of arks, having the traditional format of house and run in line. Ideally suited to short legged birds like pekins that do not like to climb.
All the arks in this range have front access into the run area and large rear doors into the house. The 606 also has side doors into the housing area. They also have extremely operated pop hole doors and, of course, carrying handles.
The Boughton Range:
When building large framed arks it became apparent that the amount of room within the structure was not being fully utilised. By simply putting the house above the run the resulting arks make more efficient use of the area provided for the number of birds housed.
The Boughtons cover less ground than arks of more traditional format and have the added advantage of a covered run, which gives both the hens and costly feed a degree of weather protection. This layout also satisfies that birds natural instincts by allowing them to go up at night to roost.
The Boughtons are specifically designed for Bantams and medium sized birds, it is not thought suitable for large foul. All the range have full length side doors, access to the runs at both ends, removeable perching and a hinged ladder which may be drawn up to secure the birds at night. The nesting boxes are located at the end of the ark and have their own external egg collecting doors. To stop undersireable night occupation of the nests we have incorporated night shutters, which keeps nest fowling to a minimum and cuts down on egg cleaning time. All have stout carrying handles.
The Orpington Range:
This 'walk in house' format was the result of a hybrid of two of our most successful arks - the Boughton and the Lenham. It is primarily used to house large foul, however it may also be used as a static hen pen for the purpose of producting eggs in the garden.
Due to its shape and the doors the Orpington is also extremely easy to clean.
The Oxney:
Not being slow to respond to customer demands Forsham have designed a series of run extension that will compliment just about all of our 'A' framed housing with an integral run. The Oxney Runs will not be suitable as a self contained run as they have no shelter and it is not feasible to shut off the docking end.
The models available are the Oxney 01 which docks with the Forsham 602A, 602B and Romney 302B only.
Safeguard Poultry House:
The Safeguard is a movable & extendible modular construction run. Constructed in pressure treated timbers, secured in 1x½" 19 gauge wire. Affords a minimum run of 2750 x 2750 (9'x9') & stands 2355 (7'8") tall. To achieve your pen capacity requirements, the Safeguard extend lengthwise in increments of 920mm (3').
For higher security we are able to offer an optional safety porch which allows entry via two doors.
To enable you to give the birds a regular change of 'patch' & stop the ground becoming 'fowl sick'. We have optional stretcher handles (four person lift).
To fend off the fox a skirt consisting 2x2 heavy gauge mesh is available. The skirt is hinged to the ground rail & lays out on the turf forming an effective digging barrier.
To avoid the wild birds droppings entering the run area via the roof we are able to offer detachable PVC covers. Extra PVC cover strips are available if you intend to add incremental sections to the run.
The Poultryman:
Forsham Cottage Arks have designed and developed a unit for Little Morton Farm. We are pleased to offer you an ark to accommodate larger numbers of birds including a 50 and a 100 bird unit. This ark upholds the Forsham Cottage Arks passion for quality and flair for design. The Poultryman offers all the design features of the smaller arks to allow for easy cleaning and maintenance. The nest boxes are easily accessible, removable and include night shutters to discourage the birds fouling the nesting area. The ark offers two tier perching utilising the space, side and ridge ventilation and removable droppings trays for easy cleaning.
We have two of the 100 bird units which we are using at Little Morton Farm for our free range egg production. We feel we are well placed to offer you first hand experiences of the benefits of this ark. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested or would like more information on this product.
